Haldwani is a beautiful city and I am sure, you must know where it is. Actually that is the problem. Most of people do not have an idea what Haldwani is, where it is. Even when I was in Delhi, I had to introduce Haldwani as a gateway to Nainital. That is why I am writing this post to let people know about Haldwani.

Millions of people visits Nainital every year, yet very few are aware about Haldwani. Even if people know about it, they are unaware about the beauty of this city. Today, in this blog we will discuss about the places, things that one must do in Haldwani and at least spend one day in Haldwani before leaving for Nainital.

Haldwani city is a beautiful city which is a gateway to the mountains of Kumaon region like Nainital, bhimtal, Almora, Bageshwar, Kedarnath and lot more. So, this is the last city where you can get all the important stuff available for your journey as well as a proper market. The last railway station before the start of the mountains is in Kathgodam, which is also considered as a part of Haldwani. Apart from the availability of all the kind of products, Haldwani also is a hub for various restaurants, food joints, hotel, resorts. Also, there are places between Nainital and Halwani which are very beautiful and no outsider will ever know about that but the local people visit these spots on regular basis.

So, In this blog, we will talk about all the stuff you can do in Haldwani and you will find some beautiful places which you won't be able to find even in those mountains. With out wasting much time, we will move forward to the list of places to visit or stuff to do in Haldwani.
1. Visiting Amritpur
Many people from outside Haldwani might not know about this place, this place is less crowded and looks beautiful after the rainy season as the river flowing down the hill looks beautiful and you can enjoy the beauty as well, as this place is less crowded. This is located in between of the bhimtal road, there is board named as amritpur and it will lead you to a beautiful river view.

You can go to this place, can even take a bath in the river as the water level is quite low. Also, there are various Maggie points in that way. You can eat Maggie and enjoy that view. You can take your own boiler with you can make Maggie river side, trust me that is a different kind of a experience. This place is only known by the local people, so you can visit this place, you won't see much crowd there as well as the view is beautiful.
2. The Vintage Highstreet
When you are travelling to mountains, you do not expect KFC there. So, here is your last stop where you will find a KFC. This place is a hub with various cafe, food outlets and stores like Apple, LP and many more. This place also offers a garden sitting in the center which make it looks even more beautiful.

This place is located on the nainital road in between Haldwani and Kathgodam. You can see it clearly while going towards Nainital. There are 2 cafe in Highstreet Himalayan Roots and Toss cafe. 3. Cafe on Nainital paidal marg
This marg links you to the balaut resort and Bubu bistro cafe, there also few more maggie points in this way. A river side view, a few more hotels and resorts. You can walk on this road and explore this place. It is safe, again less crowded and beautiful.

You can try these cafe, these cafe gives you an amazing ambience but for food, I would rate it around 2.5 out of 5. So, eat less enjoy more is the ultimate mantra. Exploring the places sitting by the river side, clicking photographs. This is all you need, rest the Maggie points serves tasty Maggie, that is what you can rely on.

4. Shopping mall and Market
So, Haldwani has its shopping mall as well, Walkway, not like the big one's in Metro cities, But at least it has one. This is the last Mall you will see before entering the mountains. As well as all kind of products are available in Haldwani's market at reasonable prices. Market in mountains have limited products available and high prices as compared to normal markets.

So, if you are planning to visit mountains and you haven't carried jackets, it is better to get these from Haldwani as you will be charged a lot for these in other hill stations.
5. Trying out cafe on Nainital Road
From durga city center to Jeolikote, you will see a lot of cafe some are on the highway and others are hidden inside the complex but all have their own specialties.

Starting from durga city centre you will find Krazy Kitchen where dragon paneer is damn tasty although not giving any points for the Ambience. There is Delhi chaat waala who serves very tasty Chilli Momos. Moving towards Kathgodam, you will find cafe in Vintage highstreet, pots and stones Cafe, chemistry Lab Cafe, Hill grill, all these have there own special Ambience and unique food items.

Moving towards Nainital you will find Mud House Cafe, Jungle Fiesta which provides you good quality food, but these are more famous for their hill top view as these are located on the hill side providing you outdoor sitting. You can try any cafe as per your wish these all will serve you some tasty food. And a great location to sit at place for hours without getting bored.
6. Riding bikes on the Kaladungi Road
Kaladungi Road also connects you to Nainital. And this road is my favorite road to ride on. The road is not much wide, lesser traffic and trees connecting together making an entrance gate for you.
This is all you need its a 60km ride towards Ramnagar, or you can select this road to Visit Nainital, It is even more beautiful, or you can visit Bagicha restaurant at this road, a kind of a garden cafe, where you might find decent crowd and a garden themed restaurant. You will enjoy this traffic less ride on this road.
7. Eating Bhutta near Bhujiyaghat
Localites usually visit Bhujiyaghat for cycling. They also just visit with families to eat Bhuttas or Pakoda and tea on a cold mid october day as well, sometimes you do not prefer to visit cafe at Bhujiyaghat just sit by the corner of the road looking at the mountains a cup of tea in hand and enjoying the weather.

There are many bhutta sellers at the roadside while travelling towards Nainital. A lot of tourists stop in their way to eat bhuttas while visiting Nainital.
